WSC 2007 Ph.D. Colloquium/Posters and
Best Ph.D. Student Paper Awards

The Ph.D. Colloquium at the 2007 WSC promises to be an exciting opportunity for Ph.D. students to present their work to the public. Professor Ray Paul, keynote speaker for this year's SIGSIM-sponsored complimentary luncheon, will share his long-time experiences in simulation at the keynote speech. Submissions should include a brief (150-word maximum) description of the research to be presented and the name of your major advisor. Submit your applications online at
http://www-infosys.tx.ncsu.edu/wsc07/submitfullauthorpres.asp?whichform=Presentation. During submission, you need to select PhD Colloquium as the track. The submission deadline is October 5 2007. The following support will be provided:

  • The General Chair of WSC2007 provides $100 reimbursement for the conference registration
  • The Simulation Society provides complimentary one-year membership in the Simulation Society
  • ACM/SIGSIM provides complimentary luncheon

Detailed Schedule (on December 9, Sunday)

* 1:00PM~2:00PM: Luncheon
* 3:00PM~6:00PM: Ph.D. Colloquium Presentation
* 6:00PM~7:30PM: Ph.D. Poster Session

Poster preparation guidelines
You will have a 4 feet high and 8 feet wide bulletin board available to you. We recommend that you use approximately 4 feet X 6 feet of space for your project display. There is no requirement that you fill the board. There is also no requirement that you print a "real" poster - printed PowerPoint slides are perfectly acceptable. Your poster should cover the main points of your work and be as self-explanatory as possible. You can set up your posters at 2:00PM~3:00PM before the Ph.D. Colloquium on Sunday.

Best Ph.D. Student Paper Awards at WSC 2007

The Ph.D. Colloquium at the 2007 WSC solicits applications for the I-Sim/ACM-SIGSIM Best Student Paper awards. There will be two winners: best computer science-focused paper, and best OR/MS-focused paper. Each award will be for $200. In order to be qualified for the awards, you must participate in the Ph.D. colloquium (if chosen as a finalist) and present your work. Because of the limited number of sole-author student papers, co-authorship is allowed, but the student must be the primary co-author (first author). For more information see
